Heph: On a personal note...my son was born with Randy's coloring. As he grew older, the blond hair on his head grew darker, but the hair on his arms, legs, and chest remained blond. Don't ask me to explain genetics, I can hardly spell it!

Good for Hal. It's cool for his fans that he enjoys meeting them.
I have to wonder though, will Hal feel the need to announce on Hollywood Squares that he's NOT GAY? Ladies and gentlemen, place your bets. |

"Constructive criticism and critique are welcome, but snark for the sake of snark is not."
i guess the owners on this board dont have to follow their own rules. or excetpions are made if hal is the target of snark. |

Think Hal himself might survive, if he read it, might even grin. We don't feel required here to perish in solemn reverence about the actors. Only one step off getting over-grim about it all, don't you think?

Considering Hal's track record of announcing his nongayness in every single venue that I've witnessed, I don't feel that my joke about same constitutes "snark," in fact I would be willing to bet that he does in fact manage to convey his nongayness in some way on Hollywood Squares. I and many others are offended by this behavior and while my comment seems to make light of it, it's rather a serious matter to me.
HOWEVER, it's not my intention to be offensive in my turn, therefore I offer my apology if any member of Refugee interpreted my comment as "snark" and was offended. |

Saw the woman who played the senator in QAF's first season on a Lifetime movie last night. She looked like she'd aged 15 years.

Quote: Correct me if I'm wrong (and I'm sure someone will), but I see Flibber's post as falling under the category of constructive criticism, not snark which, in my book is an unwarranted attack on another poster or actor on the show. No other straight actor on QAF has found it necessary, at every opportunity, to emphasize the fact that he/she is not gay. Hal is well-known for consistently hammering home the fact that he's straight. We get it; we got it three years ago; we got it two years ago; we got it last year. Enough, already! Camcat: I taped that movie and now can't wait to watch it. Must've been a great make-up job! |

Snarking | ||
|
Just to clarify something for all our members....
Our snarking rule was not established with the intent to shut down across the board any and all snarking. All of the Admins and many of our members are veterans of that "other" board, where snarking was the rule of the game. If anyone tried to post anything positive, they were basically shut down or ridiculed. At best, it was frustrating as hell for those of us who were/are fans. When we created this board, we wanted it to be a safe haven for all fans, but that does not mean we only allow positive posts. What we do hope to avoid with this rule is constant criticism and negative post after negative post by folks who basically hate the show and never have anything positive to say. Which is basically what the rule in its entirety says. But nowhere in the rule does it state that you can only say positive things. On the contrary, it does state constructive criticism and critique are welcome. When it comes to enforcement of the rule, we're not going to be looking at individual posts. Instead, we'll be looking at patterns and history. So, bottom line.... there's no need to worry that you always have to be posting and

Lady Sparklies -- my suggestion is that if you would like to see more positive things posted about Hal, post them here. I really do mean that in the nicest way. That's what btwbj does.

Quote: No problem. Feel like it's my job to get at least some Hal stuff in here even if it doesn't always get received in the way that I mean it to. Been lurking a lot lately because I've been pretty busy but don't worry closer we get to April more you'll be hearing from me I'm sure! |

Camcat: Well, now I'll never know...I accidentally taped over the movie with the History channel's four hour treatise on "The History of Sex."
Guess QAF isn't my only obsession. msmaycat: Thanks for the clarification. Perhaps those posters who were never the object of personal attacks and bannings from "that other post" for having the temerity to strongly disagree with a certain protected poster, can't appreciate the freedom and courtesy afforded the Refugees on this forum. It is never all sweetness and light here and we've had many heated discussions and disagreements, but they've always been conducted in a civilized manner and, for that, we have you and the other admins to thank. back to our original programming. |

Re: Moonlighting: QAF Actors Elsewhere

beforetherewasbj, your links (and POV) are appreciated, truly. I like to know what all the actors are doing/saying.
While I personally don't always like some of the things Hal says in interviews, I give him full credit for reaching out to his fans. He and Scott both make an extra effort that way and I think it's wonderful of both of them. 'fitz: Sorry, I'm off-topic.

Just FYI, Hal's message says he'll be on Wayne Brady's show on the 6th, but according to my cable listing he'll be on the 7th.

Re: Moonlighting: QAF Actors Elsewhere
Quote: heifitz, though I'm not blond myself, I've heard that. And I'd always assumed that Randy's hair is is not as blond as on the show because of the roots we've seen. But when I saw such a blond Randy in the pic from '97, I had my doubts. There are a couple possibilities. It could have been dyed in the 97 pic. His hair could have darkened between 97 and now. But it does seem as though his natural color is the color of his hair in VF. Because even in S1, you can see what appears to be dark roots. None of this matters of course. Randy is gorgeous no matter what his hair color is. Just another side effect of my obsession with this show. |
